Prospectives Boréales
Prospectives Boréales is an independent research project focused on Arctic emancipation and climate change. Alongside two other designers, I spent three months in three towns on Greenland’s west coast, Kangerlussuaq, Sisimiut, and Nuuk, immersing ourselves in local culture and perspectives. The goal was to explore modern societal developments through both our lens and that of Greenlandic communities. In the field, we studied how these changes manifest and impact daily life, gathering insights to inform innovative design approaches. My main responsibilities included conducting field research, identifying requirements and opportunities and collaborating with engineers, biologists, and government advisors to generate ideas. I developed multiple design iterations, explored their strategic implementation, and produced reports and video documentation to communicate our findings effectively. Our work led to a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greenland, Vivian Motzfeldt, who engaged directly with our research outcomes. The project allowed me to combine immersive fieldwork, iterative design, and storytelling, resulting in research outputs that integrate cultural insights with actionable design strategies.
