Customizable UI panels

A user-centric interface for tomorrow's vehicles.

In a quest to explore the future of car HMI, I created a cutting-edge interface solution aimed at enhancing information organization, personalization, and fostering intuitive interactions tailored for Polestar.


Challenge

This personal project focuses on the design and development of a high-performance, user-centric interface for tomorrow's vehicles, aiming to create a driving experience that goes beyond simple navigation and entertainment.

Outcome

My aim is to design interfaces that offer a fluid, intuitive and safe experience, while anticipating the needs of drivers in different driving contexts. The ultimate goal of this project is to create flexible, customizable UI panels that not only simplify driving, but also establish a harmonious connection between the individual, the vehicle and the road environment.


A responsive and customized layout

The interface is structured in three distinct sections. On the left, essential driving data is displayed, giving the driver quick access to information for safe and efficient driving. On the right, the user can customize the layout via widgets for a responsive, personalized experience. This approach guarantees a highly responsive and personalized user experience, where individual preferences can be easily taken into account, offering an intuitive and emotional interaction with the vehicle. At the bottom, cabin temperature controls are easily accessible, offering the driver convenient and efficient manipulation of in-vehicle comfort parameters.


UI panels as widgets

My approach is to offer the user a fluid, personalized experience by allowing him to select functionalities presented as widgets from a centralized menu on the vehicle's main screen. This intuitive interface enables the user to navigate between the various functionalities and choose those that best suit his or her needs.

Moreover, to guarantee maximum adaptability, certain key functionalities such as the map or driving and vehicle information can be enlarged at the user's request. This gives the user total control over the widgets displayed on his screen, providing a highly personalized driving experience centered on his individual preferences.


Head-up display

Integrating a head-up display provides a seamless way to access essential information without distracting the driver from the road. By displaying data such as speed, navigation indications and other relevant information directly on the windscreen, the driver remains focused yet informed in real time. Moreover, this augmented reality system goes beyond the simple display of information and provides points of interest and personalized advice, enhancing driver assistance throughout the journey.
